Norwood-Norfolk names its students of the month

NORWOOD -- Biancca Planty, Dylan Denny, Meggan Barlow, and Shavanah Planty were chosen as students of the month for November at Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Students are selected for their “academic achievements, integrity and leadership in the school and throughout the community,” according to a press release from the college.

Planty was chosen as the freshman student of the month for November.

She is the daughter of Chris Planty of Madrid. She enjoys drawing and listening to music.

She also has a love for cats. She hopes to become a makeup artist in New York City.

Denny was chosen as the sophomore student of the month for November. He is the son of April and Tim Denny of Norwood.

He enjoys gaming, reading Manga, watching Anime, listening to Japanese Playlist, sketching, writing stories, and studying.

He participates in school activities such as IMPETUS, Varstiy Club, and Spanish Club.

His future plan is to earn a medical or software degree while living in Japan and to develop his own manga or anime.

Barlow was chosen as the junior student of the month for November. She is the daughter of Erica Barlow of Norwood.

She enjoys mathematics, sciences, art and creative writing.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Envirothon and Foreign Language Club. She plans to attend college with a major in physics and a minor in astronomy.

Planty was chosen as the senior student of the month for November. She is the daughter of Chris Planty of Madrid.

She is a member of the wrestling team. She attends the BOCES criminal justice program. Upon completion of high school, she plans to join the Marines and become a state trooper.

Hotel Grande and Al Smiths of Norfolk and The Hometown Café and Lobster House of Norwood donated gift cards for the students of the month.

The Teacher’s Association also presents the senior student of the month with a gift card to the Clarkson Bookstore.
