Brasher Falls Central student is Potsdam Rotary Seaway Tech Student of Month

NORWOOD -- The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood has announced Cora Capozzi, a student from the Brasher Falls Central School District in the Health Careers Program at Seaway Tech, is the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for October 2019. She is the daughter of Crystal Capozzi.

The Health Careers program is a two-year program for students interested in pursuing a career in the health field by gaining knowledge that helps to build a foundation as a health care professional. Students learn concepts of health and wellness, nutrition and patient care as well as anatomy and physiology, and receive training in CPR and first aid, and hands on experience in a clinical situation. They will be eligible for the NYS Nursing Assistant Certification Exam.

Cora serves as a Student Leader for the program. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society serving as vice president and treasurer. She has participated in the American Red Cross Blood Drives at Seaway Tech.

Upon graduation, Cora will have been awarded her Task Aide Feeding Certificate. Upon successful completion of her NYS CNA exam, she will earn her Nurse Assistant Certification.

Richelle Cisco said that Cora “is a bright, enthusiastic and caring student. Her optimistic attitude is infectious. She has truly grown in her student leader role this year and takes great pride in being a role model for other students.”

• Loran Swamp, HVAC/R, Massena Central, and

• Seth Bice, Natural Resource Management, Canton Central.
