The Town of Colton observed Memorial Day with its traditional parade and services at local cemeteries in Colton and South Colton on May 28. Organized by the volunteer fire department, the parade included elements of the Colton-Pierrepont Central School Band, Girl Scouts and members of the local AMVETs Auxiliary. Leading the parade, as they have for the last 16 years, were military retirees pictured above along with the American Flag bearer for this year, Clarkson Air Force ROTC Cadet Zane Henderson of Clayton, New York. From left, retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief Daniel McNamara, retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Three Donald McNamara, Cadet Henderson, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel James Hassett and retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief William Swafford. The retirees are all residents of Colton or South Colton and have an accumulated total of over 100 years of military service.
