CANTON – The Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm will host workshop day training for local food entrepreneurs and farmers on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The workshop trainings will offer learning opportunities for farmers, food business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The day includes a keynote address from acclaimed author and farmer Kristin Kimball of Essex Farm, a full diet, year-round Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm in Essex, New York.

In “Creating Farm Products to Feed a Community Year-Round,” Kimball will share the farm’s progression as they expanded their offerings of produce, meats, dairy, grains, soap and more.

The day also includes two workshop slots.

In session one, participants have the opportunity to choose between, “Demystifying Regulation: Ag and Markets,” “Department of Health and Home Processing Registration” or “Successful Food Sampling at Events: Connecting with New Customers.”

In the session two, attendees will elect either “Labeling Food Products” or “Taking Payment Besides Cash.”

After a lunch with networking opportunities, the day will close with a producer panel including the on-the-ground experiences from three regional entrepreneurs.

Registration fee is $15, which includes all sessions and catered lunch by Big Spoon Kitchen.
