Education, inequality talk

CANTON: “Teach for America: A Conversation on Inequality and Education,” 4:30-5:30 p.m., Sykes Common Room; co-sponsored by St. Lawrence’s WORD Studio and Writers’ Series, free and open to the public; associate professor of education Jeffery Frank will lead the conversation with authors Michelle Kuo and Joe Wilkins, who are both alumni of Teach for America; refreshments served; info: 315-229-5125.

‘Death Café’

POTSDAM: St. Lawrence Health System will host a ‘Death Café’ presented by Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, and an Advanced Directives workshop, 5-7 p.m., at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, conference rooms A and B, 50 Leroy St.; light dinner will be served; also presented will be information on Advanced Directives and MOLST (Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment), by Director of Patient Experience Keri Allen, and Jaime Odendahl, RN; free and open to all; however, seating is limited and RSVPs are required; confirm attendance by Tuesday, March 3, by contacting Deborah Chase-Lauther at 315-261-5413, or [email protected].

One Hour One Work

OGDENSBURG: Frederic Remington Art Museum, 303 Washington St., invites the public to attend any of four “One Hour One Work” sessions in the month of March; featured artwork will be Frederic Remington’s 1909 oil painting, “The Sun Dance,” Remington’s 1909 oil on canvas; offered on the following dates and times: Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m.; Friday, March 13 at 1 p.m.; Thursday, March 19 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday, March 26 at 1 p.m.; 60 minutes of focused looking, consideration, conversation, and interpretation; free with admission to the Museum, but space is limited; reservations: 315-393-2425, [email protected].
