CANTON: St. Lawrence University’s Department of Geology will host Columbia University’s Earth Institute Professor and fellow Laurentian Peter deMenocal ’82 as the guest speaker for the 10th-annual Bloomer Lecture of the Geology Alumni Conference; 7:30 p.m., Bloomer Auditorium, Brown Hall, room 122; will speak about African paleoclimate contexts of human evolution and dispersal; lecture will feature the proposal of how past changes in climate may have shaped human evolution, behavior and migration; along with presenting new paleoclimate archives from fossil localities, African lakes, ocean sediment and new analytical methods that have transformed our understandings and created a clearer picture of human evolution; free, public; 315-229-5851 or visit www.stlawu.edu/geology.
