Painting fundraiser

MORRISTOWN: Morristown School painting fundraiser, 10:30 a.m., Brier Hill Volunteer Fire Department; stencil paint on vintage sap bucket; choice of three stencils, $50; register: https://bit.ly/2Mwqvft.

Basket making class

MASSENA: Make heart-shaped basket 3” high, 9” long, 8” deep with artisan Ann French; $20; limit of 8 people so call library to register early; 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Massena Public Library.

Spinning wheel demo

CANTON: St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA) will present a spinning wheel demonstration, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; North Country spinner Ellen McCrea will demonstrate the craft of spinning and compare different types of spinning wheels, and speak about spinning various fibers and the growing and processing of flax; Carlton Stickney, curator of the current Spinning Wheel and Textile Tool Exhibit, will give a short presentation at noon on various tools used in spinning, exhibit has over 11 spinning wheels, five yarn winders, and several display cases of textile tools; it will be open to the public until Feb. 15; www.slcha.org.
