Model train expo

MASSENA: Norwood Model Railroad Club sponsoring 10th Annual Model Train, Toy & Collectible Expo at the Massena Arena, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; admission is $4; children younger than 10 are admitted free; more than seven operating model train layouts of different sizes and gauges set up by various clubs from New York and Canada available for viewing; vendors will selling and appraising model railroad gear and equipment and collectibles, like toys, coins and sports cards; free clinic on model railroad scenery (Creation Basic Ground Cover) will be offered as well; weather permitting there will be free miniature outdoor train rides for young and old; refreshments available to benefit the Massena Recreation Commission; jarvistom@ymail.com, 315-267-6945, https://bit.ly/2YN1O6F.

Library’s 100th birthday

Remington Arts Festival

CANTON: Annual Remington Arts Festival Art Show and Sale, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Canton Village Park; over 30 artists displaying their work during the festival, which is a “celebration of art excellence in the North Country” as well as a celebration of Frederic Remington, who was born in Canton on Oct. 4 in 1861; collaboration between SLC Arts and the Village and Town of Canton; live music for the duration of the event, and horse drawn carriage rides around the village from 12-3 p.m.; admission to the festival is free and all are welcome.

Climate change, maples

Honey Hoedown

POTSDAM: Third annual Honey Harvest Hoedown and Pollinator Jamboree, 3-5 p.m., Wagner Institute for Sustainability and Ecological Research Greenhouse, Stowell Hall, SUNY Potsdam; public celebration of bees and other pollinators like birds, bees, bats, beetles, butterflies and moths that help provide our food and enrich the natural world; coordinated and sponsored by the WISER Center at SUNY Potsdam, the Local Living Venture and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's Environmental Division; free family-friendly event will include demonstrations, unique honey treats, pollinator habitat workshops, films and live bluegrass music by the Northern Southern Old Time Society Band, guests can even harvest and eat comb honey; free tour of the pollinator gardens and apiaries at Cecilie Garden, located in SUNY Potsdam's Lehman Park, will follow the jamboree, from 5-6 p.m. Shuttle transportation will be provided; donations are welcomed to benefit the Local Living Venture's Pollinator Protection programming; locallivingventure.org/content/pollinator.

Fall Festival

CANTON: United Helpers will host its annual Fall Festival, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Eleanor Burke Memorial Pavilion, 205 State Street Rd.; local growers, vendors, and crafters from the across the North Country will be featured; event will also offer a chicken barbecue as well as family-friendly activities including free face painting, games, bounce houses, and pumpkin painting for children; admission is free.

Open house, harvest fest

Pulled pork

MADRID: The United Church of Madrid will be serve a takeout pulled pork dinner from 4 p.m. until all is sold. The dinner will include pulled pork smoked by Brian Moulton, baked beans, salt potatoes, coleslaw, rolls and brownies. The cost is $10. Proceeds will be used for our church and parsonage’s upkeep. The church is at the corner of Main St. and Cross St. in Madrid. Use the side door, up the ramp, for orders.
