79th Hammond Fair

HAMMOND: 79th Hammond Fair, 8-10 a.m. breakfast served, 9 a.m. exhibits open; 9:30 a.m. 4-H draft horse/horse show, and rabbit, poultry, sheep, pig and goat judging; 11 a.m. entertainment, 12:30 p.m. children's games, 1:30 p.m. bossy bingo; 2 p.m. ice cream social, pet show, cake walk and Kentucky Derby hat contest; 3:30 p.m. recognitions, decorated cake auction and daring for raffle prizes; 315-324-5517, www.hammondfair.com.

Ribbon cutting

VFW Freedom Fest

CANTON: Canton VFW Auxiliary’s Family Freedom Festival, village park, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; featuring presentations by the VFW Auxiliary National Programs, the Canton Fire Department and military recruiters; St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department will provide child ID cards and K9 officer Fable will be on hand; 10th Mountain Division Band to perform; bounce house from Seaway Valley Jumpers, carnival games, a cupcake walk and Wreaths Across America; free, although the Auxiliary will accept donations; donations of can tabs will also be accepted for Ronald McDonald House.

Northern New York Nerd Con

AMVETS Freedom Fest

POTSDAM: Amvets Post 282 and Auxiliary hosting Family and Freedom Festival, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the post at 6771 U.S. Highway 11, next to Hospice between Canton and Potsdam; horse drawn wagon rides by Double Percherons, Kids’ Carnival games, kids’ only Karaoke contest, St. Lawrence County Sheriff Child ID table and K9 Fable, quality craft fair, cupcake walk, bake sale, raffles, live broadcast by MIX 96; lunch and beverages sold; demos by 10th Mountain Division troops and the Canton Fire Department; 10th Mountain Division Band, flag etiquette, disposal class at noon; free admission, carnival games 25 cents, horse carrots $1, free rides.

Fall Gun Show
