Leadership training

POTSDAM: Strengths Based Leadership is the topic of a new training series hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, 5-7 p.m., at Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley in Potsdam; open to all; chamber is collaborating with Tedra L. Cobb and GrasseRoots Fund to offer the session as part of the new Board and Management Leadership Training Program; registration required: $25, or $30 for non members; register through the chamber’s Facebook page, or call 315-386-4000.

Gastro health lecture

POTSDAM: St. Lawrence Health System’s Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist James Vecchio, MD, will lead a new series of lectures as part of Colon Cancer Awareness Month; “Gastrointestinal Health – What You Must Know,” will be held on March 14, 21, and 28, from noon-1 p.m., in the second floor conference rooms of 50 Leroy St.; lunch provided, all welcome; reservations required: 315-261-5413, dchaselauther@cphospital.org; the discussion will focus on the role and function of EGDs (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) and colonoscopies.

Gardening classes

POTSDAM: A three-part gardening series to help gardeners, both beginners and experienced; Thursdays on March 14, 21, and 28 from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Potsdam Public Library; the free classes are presented by Paul Hetzler, Horticulture and Natural Resources Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of St Law. Co; learn about soil health and site requirements, how to combat weather patterns and new disease strains, and how to identify and manage pests. Register online at www.potsdamlibrary.org.
