Cancer support

POTSDAM: St. Lawrence Health System’s Cancer Support Group will meet at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, 4:30-6 p.m., Conference Rooms A and B, 50 Leroy St; refreshments provided; guest presenter, Shelby Connelly, L.Ac, M.Ac, will speak on the benefits of acupuncture and the reasons why some patients choose this holistic and personalized treatment as a complement to their cancer care; group meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month, and is open to all; 315-261-5890, www.stlawrencehealthsystem.org/cancer-center.

Gaslands! session

CANTON: Canton Free Library hosting vehicular mayhem through play of the game Gaslands!, 5 p.m., main floor; tabletop game of post-apocalyptic vehicular mayhem; with fast and cinematic rules, it is designed to be played with toy cars, allowing players to ram, skid and race their way through the wreckage of a burnt-out Earth; no cost to play; materials provided.

Flu clinic

POTSDAM: Flu clinic hosted by Kinney Drugs, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Mayfield Apartments Community Room; bring Medicare card or insurance card; immunizations are also given everyday at any Kinney Drugs store without an appointment.

Poetry reading

MASSENA: Potsdam author Dale Hobson will give a public reading from his new full-length collection of poetry, “Light Year,” in The Shop Around the Corner, 32 Andrews St., 7 p.m.; book is richly illustrated by South Colton artist Suzanne Langelier-Lebeda with full page color artworks accompanying a dozen of the poems; free and open to the public; opies of the book will be available for sale and signing by the author.

Alexander String Quartet

CANTON: Alexander String Quartet noon matinee, Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall, St. Lawrence University; informal presentation where the quartet speaks about the composers, their pieces, and the lives and society surrounding the works; free admission, open to the public.
