POTSDAM -- Dr. Ching-Chun Lai will conduct SUNY Potsdam's Crane Symphony Orchestra during their first concert of year Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Music Hall.

The symphony will perform "Un Sourire," by Olivier Messiaen and Symphony No. 5, op. 100, B-flat major by Sergei Prokofiev.

Conductor Ching-Chun Lai has held the post of director of orchestras and assistant professor of music at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music since 2011.

During her brief tenure, the Crane Symphony Orchestra has advanced swiftly in both quality of performance and reputation.

In 2014, the Crane Symphony Orchestra was invited to perform at the opening concert of the New York State School Music Association's annual conference.

In addition, the orchestra has performed in prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

Lai appears annually in the College's traditional holiday "Candlelight Concert," which is broadcasted nationwide by PBS.

As part of Crane's educational mission, Lai and the orchestra tour regularly to various school districts throughout the northeastern United States.

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

This concert will be broadcast live on the SUNY Potsdam website at the performance time. To view the program and see other upcoming streaming performances, visit www.potsdam.edu/academics/Crane/streaming.
