CANTON -- A new exhibit Spinning Wheels and Textile Tools is on display through Nov. 15 at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA), 3 E. Main St.
This exhibit entails an overview of the spinning wheels and textile tools from the late 18th century to early 20th century.
Displays include an explanation of processing flax into thread (linen) and raw wool into yarn, a variety of spinning wheels for both wool and flax, and five yarn winders and two swifts (yarn holders).
Also, two display cases of textile tools explain the journey from raw material to finished product.
Curator Carlton Stickney, Stockholm town historian, will present a Brown Bag Lunch program about the exhibit Thursday, Oct. 17, at noon in the County Gallery at the SLCHA.
