Snowmobile safety course for youth offered Nov. 16 in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- The New York State Young Operator Snowmobile Safety Course for youth is offered in the Potsdam Rescue Community Room, 38 Main St., from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.

The course provides fundamental information which all snowmobilers should possess in order to ensure the safety of riders and other trail users. Successful completion of this course results in the award of a NYS Snowmobile Safety Certificate. Courses are taught by experienced snowmobilers who volunteer their time to make the sport safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

The safety courses are offered youth age 10 thru 17.

Lunch is provided at the Saturday course by St Lawrence Health System.

People must pre-register by at 315-244-0886 or SnowmobileSafeNY@gmail.com. Instructor is Heather Cowen-Wilson.

The course will also be held in Colton at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 by the Colton Sno Skippers at the Colton School during Colton Winterfest. Lunch is provided. Anyone who wishes to attend may 315-212-0070. Instructor is Danny Collins.
