The St. Lawrence University String Orchestra, under the direction of Christian Hosmer, will perform a concert titled "Celebration!" Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. in the Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall on campus and Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in the Russell Opera House.
Both are open to the public and free.
This program features well-known classic works such as Brandenburg Concerto #3 by Bach, and the Trepak from "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky.
Other popular works are by Mozart, Vivaldi and Fauré. Additionally, folk tunes such as the Irish Reel "The Rakes of Mallow" and the popular Americana "Shaker Tune" will be performed.
The University Chorus will join the orchestra for the world premier of Hosmer's original composition "Celebration!," honoring the conclusion of the first year of using the new Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall, and for the well-known "Gloria," by Vivaldi.
