SLCAC offering classes for youth to explore the arts; Magic Club begins Monday

POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council offers classes for ages 2-18 to explore the world of the arts.

All classes are held on the second floor of Downtown Snell Hall in Potsdam.

Contact the council to register and pre-pay for classes by contacting 265-6860, www.slcartscouncil.org or by stopping at 51 Market St.

• Magic Club for Ages 7-14 with Rich Tenace ­ Monday, Nov. 15, 3:30-5 p.m. This is a beginning magic class where youngsters will learn basic tricks with ropes, cards, coins, and sponge balls. Future classes in this series are every third Monday night. $15 per class, $10 materials fee for the first class, and no materials fees for subsequent classes, students need to bring materials previously purchased.

• Arts Around the World for ages 6-12 with Kris Rozelle ­ Saturday, Nov. 20, 10-11:30. Featuring Japanese Suminagashi, an ancient form of paper marbling. $15, plus $5 materials fee.

• Comics Club! with Dave W. Ferry ­ Saturday, Nov. 20, noon-3 p.m. Ages 12-adult. Explore sketching and forming characters, perspective drawing, sequential storytelling, and most importantly--bringing ideas to life. Beginners welcome ­ register: $20.
