OGDENSBURG -- Boaters can improve their chances of having a safe, accident-free outing on the water by taking the U.S.C.G. course “About Boating Safely” being presented by the Ogdensburg Coast Guard Auxiliary April 23 and 24. This eight hour, two night course, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the United Helpers Mosaic Center, 100 Ford St., certifies New York State operators of personal watercraft (such as a Jet Ski), who must be 14 years of age or older, and motor boat operators born on or after May 1, 1996 and who are at least 10 years of age.

Learn how to operate your boat safely, the rules of the road, how to handle required safety equipment and emergencies on the water and more. Statistics from United States Coast Guard records prove that an educated boater is a safer boater.

The course is $35 per person with family rates available. Register by calling the Ogdensburg Auxiliary at 315-605-8041 or calling Gardner Furniture and Flooring at 315-393-6488.
