POTSDAM -- Clarkson University’s Integrated Math and Physics for Entry to Undergraduate STEM Program (IMPETUS) will host their roller coaster competition, Wednesday, April 5.
The competition will be held in Bertrand H. Snell Hall (#20 on the map at http://www.clarkson.edu/about/clarkson_map.pdf) from 4-5:30 p.m.
Students will test table-model roller coasters, which they have been designing and building since the fall.
The model roller coasters will run marbles on their tracks and be judged by thrills, speed, etc. The best time for coverage will be 4:30-5 p.m., after students are set up.
There will be 20 entries from 12 different local schools districts: Brasher Falls, Carthage, Colton-Pierrepont, Gouverneur, Harrisville, Herman-DeKalb, Heuvelton, Madrid-Waddington, Malone, Norwood-Norfolk, Ogdensburg, and Potsdam.
IMPETUS, a program of the St. Lawrence County STEM Partnership, is designed for students who have an interest in math, science and technology.
The public is welcome to attend.
