Registration open Oct. 7 for Ogdensburg recreation programs such as basketball, gymnastics, family swimming

OGDENSBURG – Registration begins Monday, Oct. 7 for the Ogdensburg Parks and Recreation Department’s 2019-2020 fall and winter programs which include Biddy Basketball and gymnastics.

Registration will take place at the Dobisky Visitors’ Center, 100 Riverside Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The programs include:

• Biddy Basketball is an introductory basketball program for boys and girls in grades K-6. They play at Ogdensburg Free Academy on Saturdays beginning Dec. 7 and ending Feb. 1, from 8 to 9 a.m. for K through 2nd grade, 9 to 10 a.m. for grades 3 and 4, and 10 to 11 a.m. for grades 5 and 6. Thanks to a donation from “The Freddie” basketball tournament committee, all youth interested will be able to participate for free. But all participants must be registered.

• Gymnastics, an introductory program for youth ages 4 to 7 from 9 to 10 a.m. and ages 8 to 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Kennedy Elementary School gymnasium. The six-week program runs on Saturdays from Nov. 2 to Dec. 7. Cost is $15 per child.

• Sunday Family Swim is held from 1-3 p.m. at Ogdensburg Free Academy’s pool beginning on Jan. 5 and ending March 1. This program is free and for the general public. All are welcome to attend.

Other events on the schedule include:

• The first Rock and Skate event of the ice season at Lockwood Arena is set for Nov. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5 per person and includes skate rentals.

• Skate with Santa Dc. 14 at the arena on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Young ones will have a chance to skate with Santa Claus and his elves. Cost is $1 for youth, $2 for adults. Skate rentals are free, and there will be free popcorn and drinks.
