POTSDAM -- Potsdam native John North (Class of 2003) will perform with his band Delta Sierra at Maxfield's on Market Street Friday, Sept 27, at 10:30 p.m.

There is a $5 cover.

The Ithaca-based Delta Sierra describes their sound as heavy and patient rock music with dense droning instrumentals centered around plaintive vocals with raw and direct lyrics. Most obvious descendants of Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Magnolia Electric Co, Delta Sierra also call to mind the spirit of lyrical, guitar heavy bar bands such as The Hold Steady and Lucero, the band's press kit said.

Their most recent record 'Grown-Up Situations' is a song cycle focused on aging that was recorded live to tape by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago and was released on Ancient Phrase Records in the Fall of 2018.

The band will have copies of this album and a previous album "Red Blood Blues" for sale at the show. Both are pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

This show, and another in Keeseville on Saturday, will be the band's first in over six months after a hiatus to let their drummer recover from shoulder surgery.
