Potsdam Central School, Norwood-Norfolk Central School, and Salmon River Central have postponed their drama club performances that were scheduled for tonight and Saturday.
Norwood-Norfolk Central has cancelled their production of “Fiddler on the Rood” that was slated for tonight and tomorrow due to COVID-19 concerns.
NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank confirmed the cancellation via email this morning.
No make-up date has been announced yet.
The PCS announcement came from Potsdam Central High School Principal Mark Bennett in an email to parents and staff.
“As of 5 p.m. this evening, New York State has instituted limits on mass gatherings, directing events with 500 or more individuals in attendance to be cancelled or postponed,” he said. “Events or gatherings with fewer than 500 individuals in attendance will be required to cut capacity by 50 percent.”
As a result, the school has decided to postpone the March 13 and 14 Potsdam High School Drama Club performances of “Matilda” and will reschedule them for a later date. The date has not been announced.
All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled performances.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the health and safety of our students, staff, and community members is our top priority,” Bennett said.
Salmon River Central has decided to postpone their presentation of Disney’s “High School Musical” that was scheduled for tonight and Saturday.
The announcement came from Elizabeth LaBarge, drama club advisor.
