MASSENA – Planetarium, magic shows, games and computer coding are among Massena Public Library’s summer offerings. For more information or to register for events, if required, call 315-769-9914 or visit the library at 41 Glenn St.
On Thursdays, from June 27-August 1, children ages 8-13 can join live action role play games of Dungeons and Dragons to create their own character play in a new world, 5-7 p.m; registration required.
Other events include:
• June 26: Learn to use Code and Go robot mouse to explore coding the problem solving through mazes and experiments; ages 5-11; 2 p.m; registration required.
• June 27: Information and conversation on Alzheimer’s and dementia; 6:30 p.m.at Massena Public Library screening room.
• July 3: Play with robots that build creativity and computer programming skills to solve puzzles and navigate coding basics; ages 8-13; 10 a.m; registration required.
• July 10: Reptiles visit the library; family event for all ages; 2 p.m.
• July 11: See baby goats and learn about their care; open to all ages; children must be accompanied by adults; 2 p.m.
• July 16: Fun, Australian interactive show with didgeridoo player; for all ages; 1 p.m.
• July 17-19: Create your own carry bag; ages 10-14; 1-3 p.m; pre-register.
• July 25: Register at library to attend trip to SUNY Potsdam’s planetarium show; geared for kids ages 4+; learn about solar system and constellation stories; 2:30 p.m.
• July 25: See a pony and learn about horses and ponies on a farm; open to all ages; children must be with adult; 2 p.m.
• July 26: Magic show with fun and laughs for entire family; 2 p.m.
• July 27: Enter a star lab, a mobile planetarium set up in the library; hear stories of our solar system; starting at 1:30 p.m; register for one of 3 sessions.
• July 31: Join the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry; games and treats from Massena branch of Huneydukes; 2-3:30 p.m.
• August 1: See farm birds and learn about how farms make our food and impact our lives; open to all ages; children must be accompanied by adults; 2 p.m.
• August 2: Annual library beach party invitation for all children who signed up for summer reading; 1-3 p.m; Robert Moses State Park Beach gazebo; free beach time, food, games.
