OGDENSBURG -- The public is invited to bring their life jackets and pets and join members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and local government officials at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 18th at the Dobisky Center for the kickoff of National Safe Boating Week.

National Safe Boating Week, May 18-24, is the official launch of the 2019 North American Safe Boating Campaign promoting boating safety and voluntary, consistent wearing of life jackets by recreational boaters through the national theme, “Ready, Set, Wear It!”

Free vessel safety checks will be available at the Dobisky Center from 9-11 a.m.

For recreational boaters looking to learn more, the U.S.C.G. Auxiliary teaches America's Boating Courses throughout the year. For dates and times of classes in the Ogdensburg, Lisbon, Hammond, Morristown and Gouverneur areas, contact the Ogdensburg Auxiliary at 315-605-8041.
