MADRID -- The St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum (SLPEM) will host an open house Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA) will provide a Children’s Harvest Festival at the event from 10 a.m.-noon.
Actitivies include threshing oats, hand sewing quilt blocks, shelling corn, schoolhouse activities, vintage games, cider pressing, making butter, doing laundry with a scrub board, among others.
The SLPEM is currently adding a woodshop to accompany structures such as a log cabin, blacksmith shop, textile building, one-room schoolhouse, wagon barn, and other typical buildings of the time. There will be guides for each of the buildings to enrich the experience.
The St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum is located at 1755 State Highway 345.
