O'burg's Remington juried show to open online

OGDENSBURG - The Frederic Remington Art Museum will stage its 2020 Members' Juried Art Exhibit April 24-Sept. 13.

In light of uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibit will begin as an online exhibition, to be followed by a physical, on-site exhibition when the public health situation permits.

For the 2020 Members' Juried Art Exhibit, the Museum's member artists are invited to submit up to three digital photos of their art.

Open to artists everywhere, this exhibit is the Museum’s most inclusive juried art exhibit: every artist gets at least one work in the show.

While much remains uncertain about when the Museum will reopen and when restrictions on public gathering will be relaxed, the Museum looks forward to a time when the exhibition can be celebrated in a physical display at the Museum, and the opportunity for the public to view original artworks in person.

Last year’s Members’ Exhibit featured work by 50 participating artists.

This year artist-in-residence Basia Goszczynska will be jurying the exhibition. Brooklyn-based Goszczynska explores environmental and waste issues through a variety of mediums including sculpture, installation, performance, social practice and new media.

Goszczynska will choose from digital representations of up to three artworks, and will award cash prizes for “Best in Show,” 2nd, and 3rd place. A “Public's Choice” prize, a museum wrapped canvas reproduction of The End of the Day by Frederic Remington, ca. 1904, will be awarded based on an open vote, both at the Museum and online at www.fredericremington.org during the exhibit.

The exhibition is open to any member of the Museum. An artist who is not yet a Museum member may join when they enter their submissions. The deadline for submission of digital images, payment, and information is April 14, and can be completed online via the online prospectus at https://forms.gle/SzSYyDjrscdaHswk6.

Entries can also be submitted via email to desmond@fredericremington.org with a completed entry form and payment mailed to the Museum. The full prospectus can be viewed and downloaded at www.fredericremington.org

The exhibit will open online on April 24. Works in the exhibit may be offered for sale, with one third of the price benefitting the Museum. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, the Museum will be in touch with artists regarding the opening for the physical, on-site exhibition at the Museum.
