CANTON -- The Northern Lights Orchestra, under the direction of Christian Hosmer, has announced the release of its first compact disc entitled “Celtic Journey.”
The release of this CD coincides with the start of the orchestra's fourth year performing together. Containing a number of Celtic favorites arranged by Hosmer and others for strings and woodwinds, the CD offers selections for all to enjoy in the car, office or at home. Traditional favorites such as "Gaelic Air," "Scotland The Brave," "The Minstrel Boy," and "Joy to the Person of My Love," are arranged in melodic forms that tug at your heart strings or set your feet tapping.
The CD can be purchased in Potsdam at Northern Music & Video and the Potsdam Co-op, and in Canton at the SLU Bookstore and Nature's Storehouse, as well as Vermont Violins and other stores in the area. CDs will also be on sale at all concert venues during the 2011 summer concert season.
The summer 2011 concert season will feature American music:
• Friday, July 1 -- Waddington, Island Park View 7 p.m. (Town Hall if weather is inclement.)
• Sunday, July 24 -- Ogdensburg Seaway Festival, Library Park, 7 p.m.
• Saturday, August 6 -- Morristown Museum 7 p.m.
