OGDENSBURG – Nearly 100 children are expected to attend the annual Kids Games sponsored by the Ogdensburg Firefighters Association, in conjunction with the Seaway Festival, on Saturday, July 20 from 1-4 p.m. in the Greenbelt next to Kids Kingdom.

The event is completely free of charge and includes pizza, subs, drinks, and helium balloons. There's also a raffle drawing for prizes.

The OFA will set up their ladder truck to spray the kids with water if it's a nice day.

The events include sprints, one-and-two-person sack races, two-person wheelbarrow races, and a water balloon fight. The infamous greased pole challenge will return if the work being done to the city docks allows it.

There's also a ring toss game for the chance to win a one-liter drink.

For each event, the top three finishers get to choose from the prize pool.

Finishers will be grouped by age, usually starting out with 2-year-olds all the way up to 16-year-olds.

Local businesses supplement the association’s purchases every year with donations of food, drinks, and prizes. “We couldn't put on the event without their help,” writes Ron Bouchard, one of the event organizers.

Howland Pumps is supporting the games this year, said Bouchard, and their donation will be used to purchase prizes.
