CANTON – Inspired by the influential “Get it Loud in Libraries” initiative in the UK, St. Lawrence University’s Owen D. Young Library will host a special concert with local indie rockers Bee Children on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will also serve as a benefit for Literacy for Nepal, a grassroots organization that “aims to help improve the infrastructure of government schools and provide partial scholarships for higher education to empower underprivileged students of rural communities in Nepal.”
Donations will be gratefully accepted to support their ongoing work.
Based in Canton, Bee Children have developed a distinctive sound that stretches beyond their acoustic origins to showcase their post-punk, new wave, synth-pop and college radio influences.
They released their second album, Gather the Exiles, in late 2018 and are currently at work on a new album.
The band is also currently vying for a nomination in the Independent Music Awards, an influential platform for established and emerging artists from around the globe. Fans can support the band by visiting https://fans.independentmusicawards.com/artists/bee-children/.
