LISBON – Lisbon homecoming are kicking off weekend 19-21.
With no homecoming committee this year the town cancelled the annual fireworks and parade, but Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department and other community organizations have worked together to ensure there will still be plenty of fun for kids and adults alike.
Fire Department President Michael Light said volunteers will be out flat as they host the annual chicken barbecue and two demolition derbies in a single day.
The first derby will be begin at 1 p.m. Saturday followed by the St. Lawrence County Demolition Derby Championship.
Light says anyone who has ever won a St. Lawrence County Championship demo derby or placed first or second in class in a 2016 demo derby can enter.
“It doesn’t matter if it was 20 years ago. If you won you are eligible,” he said.
At the same time the fire department will be serving up chicken barbecue for $10 a meal.
Price for the derby is $5 a head, kids under 12 free.
There will also be a kids’ Power Wheels Derby, and an R.V. and Boat Show all weekend at Lisbon Beach.
On Friday the Buckskins will perform at the Lisbon American Legion from 8 p.m. until midnight.
On Saturday activities will be available for all ages beginning at 7 a.m. with breakfast being served at the United Presbyterian Church.
At 9 a.m. the Lisbon Wesleyan Church will host a 5k walk/run at Firemen’s Field.
Lisbon Museum will host a “train day” at 10 a.m. Also at that time will be the Lisbon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary craft fair.
At 11 a.m. a 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at Lisbon Beach. To signup call 854-2657.
The annual chicken barbecue begins at noon at the fire station, with the demolition derby starting at 1 at firemen’s field.

At 4 p.m. an ice cream social will be held at the White Church.
