OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum’s 2019 International Juried Art Exhibition will open on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a free public reception from 2-4 p.m.

The public is invited to come and meet the artists at the reception, see their excellent work, and have some fun at the Museum.

For this year’s exhibition, the Remington Museum received 95 images submitted by 35 artists.

Juror Peter Russom selected 46 works to be in the exhibition, including drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and mixed media works.

“The works included in the 2019 International Juried Art Exhibition demonstrate a tremendous range of exciting approaches to creating art with an equally diverse breadth of concepts. The complexity of concepts pursued by the artists speaks to the sophistication of their studio practice," Russom said. "Every artist included in the show offers the viewer a thoughtful idea with a corresponding command of the formal properties of their work.”

The exhibition will be on display during the Museum’s fall season, continuing through into the new year and ending on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Many of the works on display will be for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist.

The exhibit will have an online gallery at www.fredericremington.org.

The St. Lawrence County artists in the exhibition are:

Martin Arquitt, Ronald Larsen, and David Crowell, all of Canton; Sharon H.J. Cheng and Catherine LaPointe Vollmer, both of Potsdam; Steven Cobb, Massena; Kasarian Dane, Madrid; Eric Drayse, Barre Hall, Thomas Robarge and Brooke Wells, all of Ogdensburg; Marla Niederer, Hammond; Paul N. Pedersen, Hermon; Kristen Rozelle, Norwood; Beverly J. Patchin, Lisbon; and Kent Strobel, Morristown.

Other North Country artists include: Gregg Fedchak, Boonville; Hope Marshall, Clayton; Jackie Ta and Josh Trombley, both of Malone; and Eleanor Sweeney and Ken Wiley, both of Saranac Lake.

From Canada are: Daniel Cogné, Gatineau, QC; Danielle Beaulieu, Cumberland, ON; Paul Joseph Laberge, Merrickville, ON; and Russell Dirks, Maureen Rooney Mitchell, Terry Sametz and Mary Ann Varley, all of Ottawa, ON.

Other artists from New York State are Douglas Carney, Rochester; Ruth Crotty, Saratoga Springs; Gary Larsen, Edinburg; Lynne Reichhart, Westernville; and Janet Marie Yeates, Northville.

The next opportunity for artists to enter a juried exhibit at the Museum is in the spring, for the 2020 Members’ Juried Art Exhibit.

That exhibit is open to any member of the Museum; an artist who is not yet a Museum member may join when they enter their submissions.

The Frederic Remington Art Museum is located at 303 Washington St.
