HEUVELTON -- St. Lawrence County Reality Check and the Heuvelton Leos will be sponsoring a free community ice cream social July 17 from 2-4 p.m. on the lawn behind the Heuvelton Deli.
Mr. Ding-A-Ling’s Ice Cream truck will be serving free Good Humor Ice Cream to the first 100 attendees.
Live music will be performed by David Wells. Face painting and kids games will be hosted by the Leos and Reality Check.
Reality Check is a movement fostered by the state Department of health, mentored by adults and led by 13-18 year olds from across New York State.
Heuvelton Deli is the only retailer in St. Lawrence County that has taken steps to eliminate youth exposure to tobacco marketing. The Deli does not post any tobacco advertising and keeps their tobacco products in an enclosed cabinet.
Tobacco advertising in retail stores has a powerful influence on teens, which are significantly more likely to smoke due to advertising than they are due to peer pressure.
For more information, contact Reality Check at 323-0020. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled.
