WADDINGTON -- The second Have a Heart Kids Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, June 29 on the NY State Free Fishing Day in Whitaker Park.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the derby ends at 3 p.m.
There will be placed winners for the longest fish, 50/50, food truck, raffles and games.
All state and local laws will apply.
Other rules and regulations include:
• Ages 4 - 16 can compete for prizes, registration is $5 per kid. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Must be registered to fish. Fishing starts at 9 am.
• Boundaries are along the St. Lawrence River from Brandy Brook to Whitaker Park in Waddington. All fishing must be from the banks.
• Species of fish allowed are: pan fish, such as perch, rock bass, crappie, sunfish and blue gill.
• This is a catch and release derby.
• One fishing pole per child.
• Winners determined by length. However, if a tie occurs then the fish that was recorded first will win. Can only hold one place on the board.
• All fish must be alive when measured and released right after.
• Winner must be present to collect prizes and raffles.
• Be courteous of others with fishing and please pick up all trash at the end of the day.
• No alcohol.
• All decisions made by event coordinators are final and prize must be accepted as awarded and have no other surrender value.
