Hammond field day to be held Saturday

HAMMOND -- The Hammond Fire and Rescue Annual Field Day will be held Saturday, July 20, starting at 2 p.m.

Fire departments, first responders, local politicians, community groups and businesses wanting to march in the annual a field day parade or enter floats should sign up for a spot by calling 585-750-1426 or emailing hammondsec@aol.com. Identify your groups contact’s name and phone number.

The day starts with a chicken barbeque and craft fair the fire station at 200 Lake St., Hammond.

The Firemen’s Parade follows at 7 p.m. and features area high school bands, civic organizations and local groups.

Fire Chief Len Bickelhaupt describes the event “as a fun family day with lots of things to do for kids of all ages.”

The auction, bounce house and kids games will open immediately after the parade and the day concludes with a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Refreshments are available on the grounds throughout the day.

Anyone wishing to donate items or gift certificates for the auction can contact any Hammond Firefighter or drop it off at the station any evening after 6:30 p.m. from July 16-19.

Hammond Fire and Rescue Inc., is a not-for-profit organization that provides fire protection and ambulance service to the Village and Town of Hammond.
