HEUVELTON – The classic sounds and songs of Simon and Garfunkel will come to life at Pickens Hall, 83 N. State St., this weekend when The Guthrie Brothers return to the stage to perform their tribute to the famous duo.
The brothers will perform a Simon and Garfunkel Experience, from 7-9 p.m., Saturday, June 9, playing many of Simon and Garfunkel's most beloved songs, while placing them within their historical context and sharing anecdotes about the duo.
The New York City-based brother duo have been featured on recordings by John Phillips, Cameo, Felix Cavaliere and Joe Lynn Turner, and have shared the stage with John Mellencamp, Taj Mahal, Peter Yarrow, Charlie Pride, Joan Osborne, Lisa Loeb, Steve Forbert, Maria Muldaur, Jon Pousette-Dart, Bryan White and John Berry, among others.
Their music was featured in several episodes of the NBC hit television series "Las Vegas," and in the feature film "Some Fish Can Fly."
The Guthrie brothers have also lent skills and voices to commercials for Citibank, Kellogg’s, Helene Curtis and El Paso (the taco sauce).
The brothers tour actively along the east coast and perform a variety of music, some of which is available on digital music distribution systems like iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster.
