DEKALB JUNCTION -- Gretchen Koehler and Don Woodcock will perform their award winning old time fiddle music Saturday, May 20, from 7-9 p.m., at the Meetinghouse Museum, 696 E. DeKalb Rd.

The concert is sponsored by the DeKalb Historical Association and admission is free.

Both Gretchen and Don have long family traditions of fiddle music. Gretchen was introduced to contest fiddling early in life and through the years she has won championships in nine states and three provinces of Canada.

As her family traveled the Northeast, she gained knowledge of fiddle styles such as Old Time, Contra Dance, Celtic and Quebecois music.

As a boy, Don played the fiddle with his father at local dances. He continued to play throughout his life and became the Grand Champion Fiddler of New York State and was inducted into the New York State Fiddlers Hall of Fame.

The concert is part of the performance series held each year by the DeKalb Historical Association.

The project is made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
