Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair to kick off July 31 featuring Wynonna Judd

GOUVERNEUR – Country music star Wynonna Judd will be the featured act at this year’s Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair on opening night Tuesday, July 31 at 8 p.m. at the Gouverneur fair grounds.

This year’s fair will feature entertainment, carnival rides and games, food, music, demolition derby and more all week until Sunday, Aug. 5.

Judd first rose to fame in the 1980s alongside her mother Naomi in the country music duo The Judds. They released seven albums on Curb Records in addition to 26 singles, of which 14 were number-one hits.

The Judds disbanded in 1991 and Wynonna began a solo career, releasing eight studio albums, a live album, a holiday album, and two compilation albums, in addition to more than 20 singles.

Tickets for the Wynonna performance are $50 for assigned track seats and $35 for general admission grandstand seating. For tickets log on to www.gouverneurfair.net.

This year’s fair will also feature entertainment every day from Eudora’s Farm, an interactive, hands-on exotic animal petting zoo, camel rides, and Rosaire’s Royal Racers ground act.

Rides will open at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31.

Fair highlights for Wednesday, Aug. 1 include the annual Carlton Peck Band Day featuring local high school bands performing at 1 p.m. Admission is free. Rides open at 1 p.m. and the annual Fireman’s Parade steps off at 7 p.m.

Harness racing starts at noon on Thursday, Aug. 2. Admission is free. Rides open at 1 p.m. The band Amish Outlaws perform later that night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for that concert.

Carnival rides open up at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3. The 2018 Talent Show is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the Midnight Madness ride promotion event happens later that night.

The AUSA Veterans Ride to Victory 2018 is happening Saturday, Aug. 4. Country rock band Confederate Railroad will rock the grandstand at 7 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $15.

The annual demolition derby will be staged at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. Tickets for adults cost $15. Children 10 and younger pay $10.
