CANTON -- Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a one-night class about transporting livestock safely and humanely on Friday, May 10 from 6-9 p.m. at the Extension Learning Farm, 2043B State Highway 68.
The course is designed for professional truckers and also farmers who truck their animals to sales or processors.
The program is supported by Cargill and offers a free dinner and speakers.
Mike Baker, Cornell beef specialist, will talk about trucking in different types of weather, keeping your trailer and truck up to code, and loading and unloading animals among other things.
This course provides certifications in BQAT (Beef Quality Assurance Transportation Training). BQAT certification will be required to truck into most major meat processors in the near future.
