CANTON – The annual Canton Winterfest will run from Feb. 6-16 with a variety of events including yoga sessions, food, live music, cardboard sled races, college and high school sports competitions, pool tourney, craft fair and snowshoeing. It all gets started with the annual Canton Chamber of Commerce dinner on Feb. 6.

The complete schedule of events:

Thursday, Feb. 6

5 p.m. Canton Chamber Annual Dinner at Best Western University Inn, 90 E. Main St.; cocktails and displays at 5 p.m., dinner and program at 6 p.m.; cash bar, auction, business displays on main dining floor; choice of plated dinner, $40 per person; reservations required by Jan. 31; info: Canton Chamber office, 315-386-8255, cantonchamberny@gmail.com.

7:15 p.m. Canton Golden Bears Girls Varsity Basketball vs. Potsdam at Canton High School.

6-7:30 p.m. Partner + Aero-Yoga Intro at Planned Parenthood of Northern NY, Community Outreach Center, 83 Main St.; presented by Planned Parenthood of Northern NY and The Yoga Loft, as part of Yoga for the People series; bring a friend for partner-assisted yoga postures; Sarah Oakley and Sarah Scafidi McQuire will guide you through some simple partner yoga work and offer some beginner level aero-yoga options; open-level and all welcome; donations welcomed, split between The Yoga Loft and Planned Parenthood; more information at www.yoga-loft.org.

4:30 p.m. Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Walk & Talk; local conservationists lead guided walk and talk about how you can help protect hemlock trees from an invasive forest pest called hemlock woolly adelgid; program will include a hands-on walk component where participants will learn to recognize signs of HWA and report observations using a mobile app, as well as an indoor session with more information about conservation efforts to protect Eastern Hemlock to be held at the Wachtmeister Field Station following the hike; visitors welcome to attend one or both sessions; presented by Nature Up North, the NYS Hemlock Initiative, and the St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Invasive Species Management; event organizers prefer you register for the event; creating a free iMapinvasives user account and downloading the mobile app prior will enhance the event experience; register: www.natureupnorth.org/events; meet at Wachtmeister Field Station on County Rt. 27 and carpool to the Kip Trailhead on Pike Road, 4:30 p.m. (walk), 5:30 p.m. (talk).

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Family snowshoe at Indian Creek Nature Center, 770 County Road 14, Rensselaer Falls; learn the basics of traveling in the snow while looking for signs of winter animal visitors; snowshoes can be borrowed at no cost for children and their guardians.
