CANTON – The workshop “Preparing for the Emerald Ash Borer” will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES, 40 W. Main St., in conference room A.
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive beetle that feeds on and kills all species of ash trees and is now known to be in our area.
Property owners who have ash trees in their yard or throughout their woodlot and would like to know how to prepare for and manage the impacts posed by EAB are advised to attend.
Speakers Aaron Barrigar, St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District forester and ISA certified arborist, and John Payton, National Grid senior supervising distribution forester, will discuss this topic.
The workshop will cover how to decide whether to treat or remove ash tree(s), what to look for when hiring an arborist, managing a woodlot after EAB, and the danger and liability infested ash trees present.
This event is free to attend and open to the public.
For more information or to register for the workshop contact Kristin Ballou, Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District forester at 518-651-2097.
