POTSDAM – Plans are in full swing for the 2nd Annual Droppin’ the Gloves on Cancer women’s hockey tournament slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-10 at Clarkson’s Cheel Arena.

The tournament is hosted by Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation, Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and Clarkson University.

Proceeds are shared between MMH and CPH for support initiatives for women in our area that are or have battled breast, cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancer.

This year, 12 teams will battle it out in two divisions to be named champion beginning Friday night at 6 p.m. right through the two championship games that begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Attendance to the games is free.

A “Street Fair” with both educational and craft booths for the general public will be held in the Cheel lobby from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

To show the impact of cancer on the women we love, Section 10 will be reserved for the “Pink Seats”.

A seat can be sponsored in honor of a woman diagnosed, battling, or lost to cancer.

To reserve a $50 seat in honor of a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, or even a neighbor that has been touched by breast, uterine, ovarian, or cervical cancer, call 769-4602.

The “Pink Seat” form can also be found at www.mmhfoundation.net. Click on the Cancer Hockey Tourney tab.

For more information or to find out how you can help, call Julia at 769-4602 or Jackie at 268-9314. Please show your support for women that are in the fight of their life.
