MASSENA -- St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce said that Trooper Connor Sutton and canine officer Skiff will be the first session of the day at the upcoming Dog Daze of Winter event at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Dog Daze of Winter is a new event coordinated by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the St. Lawrence Centre Mall for dogs, dog owners and those who just love dogs.

In the first session, which starts at 9 a.m., Sutton will talk about the duties Skiff performs on a daily basis to keep the community safe. The public will have the opportunity to witness the pinnacle in dog training as Skiff demonstrates his unique skills and showcases the bond he shares with Sutton.

Following this session, a variety of training and events, all centered around dogs, will continue until 4 p.m.

As the day progresses the public is invited to learn from additional sessions, information tables and mini trick training classes.

Xavier Tlaloc of Maya’s Pack will share her knowledge on service dogs at 10 a.m. and at noon, and show some tricks her own service dog Kacie knows.

The STLV Dog Club has three sessions on trick training techniques for attendees with or without their dogs.

Businesses focusing on your canine friend will be onsite to share their information on care, medical needs, food and more.

Dog Watch of Upstate NY is onsite to teach you about different fencing options and the safety that enclosures offer your dog. You can enter their drawing to win a fence system worth $1,400.

The Youth 4-H Club Dog Costume Parade is at 3 p.m. and the STLV Dog Club Match will be held all day.

There will also be special dog related offers at the mall during Dog Daze.

“We are fortunate that NYS Trooper Sutton and all the other representatives are a part of this new event,” said Jonnie Claeys, tourism events specialist with the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

The complete schedule of events for the first annual Dog Daze of Winter can be found at the St Lawrence Centre Mall Website or online at http://bit.ly/DogDaze2020.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Humane Society of Massena which will be onsite with information about their program.
