DePeyster hosting 30th annual Festival July 13, 14 and 15

DEPEYSTER – Depeyster’s 30th Annual Festival is scheduled for July 13, 14 and 15 complete with vendors, food, music, old fashioned games and fireworks, on county Route 10 in the park across from the Masonic Hall.

Things get started Friday evening with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. and music by Frannie Knott. Concessions will be sold and there will be an ice cream social. The band Cross Country will perform from 6-9 p.m. followed by fireworks at dusk.

There will be a DJ playing tunes all day Saturday, and events get started at 9:30 with a baby contest (entry fee of $1). Boat races will also be held.

A frog jumping contest will take place from 10:30-11 a.m. Contestants have to supply their own frog.

A talent show with face painting will be held from 11-11:45 a.m.

At noon, the annual parade will wind through town.

Saturday afternoon activities will have a traditional feel with a nail driving, cross cut sawing, frying pan throwing contest from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Old fashioned games being at 2 p.m. ($1 entry fee per game) and a cake walk will be held at 3 p.m.

Chicken barbecue will be served at 4 p.m. and the DJ will continue music from 4-8 p.m.

An Old Home Day Service will be held at 9 a.m. at the DePeyster United Methodist Church with the new pastor, followed by a covered dish brunch. The public is welcome.

A wicker patio set will be raffled off during the festival.
