POTSDAM -- Community Performance Series will present Broadway vocalist and recording artist Linda Eder in a Guest Artist Series concert Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

A free pre-concert lecture will be given by Dr. Lonel Woods at 6:30 p.m.

Eder's career launched after she competed on "Star Search" in 1987, where she won for an unprecedented 12 consecutive weeks.

The TV program helped score her a leading role in "Jekyll & Hyde," for which she was later nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her role as Lucy Harris.

In 1991, Eder launched her recording career with her self-titled debut album and has released a total of 13 albums, including "And So Much More," "It's No Secret Anymore," "Christmas Stays The Same," "Gold," "Storybook," "Broadway My Way" and "By Myself: The Songs of Judy Garland."

Most recently, Eder reunited with Broadway and pop composer Frank Wildhorn ("Jekyll and Hyde," "Wonderland," "Bonnie & Clyde") to release the album "Now."

Eder's transcendent voice is the perfect complement to Wildhorn's lush, imaginative music.

"Now" introduces 12 dynamic tracks that elevate the spirit while capturing many moods. Linda Eder's assorted musical range now spans Broadway, jazz, pop standards and country.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the CPS Box Office in the lobby of the Snell Music Theater, SUNY Potsdam, or at Northern Music & Video in downtown Potsdam.

Tickets range from $10 to $40, depending on seat selection. Tickets are available by calling the CPS Box Office at 267-2277 or by purchasing at www.cpspotsdam.org.
