“Conversation partners” program at Potsdam Library brings people from other countries together

POTSDAM -- Friendly people interested in getting to know someone from another country are welcome to be a part of Potsdam Library’s new “conversation partners” program.

Many newcomers coming to our area from another country can already read and write English, and can even speak quite well, but they would welcome the chance to converse informally with an American. They’re curious about American traditions and customs, and eager to answer questions that Americans have about their native countries.

Anyone with a bit of time for this volunteer activity might consider becoming a conversation partner.

The time commitment will not be great, and time for conversations is entirely up to the two partners.

A brief orientation to this new program will be held in the Potsdam Community Meeting Room on either of the following dates and times: Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. or Monday, April 22 at 11 a.m.

Contact Bobby Gordon at bgordon@potsdamlibrary.org or 315-265-7230 with questions, and to let her know which of the two sessions you’d like to attend.

If neither date is possible for you, contact Bobby anyway, and she’ll offer another option.
