HEUVELTON -- There will be a contra dance Saturday, Sept. 28 at Pickens Hall, 83 State St., staring at 7 p.m.
A contra dance is a “social folk dance with roots in traditional English, Scottish and French country dancing,” said a Pickens Hall press release.
Couples in long lines follow instructions provided by the caller to dance to traditional music.
Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m., and the dance will be from 7:30-10 p.m.
Gretchen Koehler will lead the 20-piece North Country Contra Dance Band and Beth Robinson will call the dance and teach the opening lesson.
Cold beverages and light refreshments will be provided.
