MALONE -- The Franklin County Fair will host a variety of events plus a performance by classic rockers Styx. This year’s dates are Aug. 5 to 14.

There will be carnival rides and games, livestock shows, a talent contest, live bands, harness racing, tractor pulls, demolition derby, food, vendors and other events.

• Aug. 5 gate admission $5 -- Amusements of America rides all day, children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; fair officially opens at noon; 10 a.m. to noon, YMCA "Franklin County has Talent" contest eliminations, grandstand; 5 p.m. horse showmanship (indoor arena); 6 p.m. - opening ceremonies featuring Drew Crew Cloggers; 7 to 10 p.m., free track party with the local band Slab City in front of the main stage

• Aug. 6 gate and grandstand admission $6 each -- children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 8 a.m. poultry judging, 4-H horse show (riding); 11 a.m., rooster crowing contest, cattle in place (colored breeds); 5 p.m., demolition derby (one and done, figure 8, stock, truck and van)

• Aug. 7 gate admission $6, grandstand for FMX $5 -- children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 8 a.m., dairy goat show (inside arena), 4H horse show (riding and costume class, outside arena), poultry judging; 10 a.m., poultry show; 11 a.m., rooster crowing contest; 1 p.m., 4H colored breed youth show; 2 p.m., FMX motocross; 7 p.m., Tuesday’s Gone concert (Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute), $5.

• Aug. 8, admission $6 gate, $5 grandstand, Children’s Day, midway prices reduced until 5 p.m. -- children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 7 a.m. English horse show, outside arena; 9 a.m. colored breed cattle show (inside arena); 10 a.m. poultry show; 11 a.m. rooster crowing contest; 1 to 3 p.m. YMCA "Franklin County has Talent" eliminations, teen division, grandstand; 6 p.m. demolition derby (stock, powder puff, rollover)

• Aug. 9, admission $6 gate, $5 grandstand, children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 8 a.m. 4-H miniature horse show and driving show (outside arena); 10 a.m. poultry show; 11 a.m. rooster crowing contest; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. YMCA "Franklin County has Talent" contest eliminations, adult division (grandstand); 1 p.m. quack up contest; 2 p.m. 4-H dog show (inside arena); 6 p.m. truck pull (street and modified), lawn mower pull; 10 p.m. - colored breeds released (must be out by 9 a.m. Aug. 10)

• Aug. 10, admission $6 gate, $5 grandstand, $10 track, children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 8 a.m. western horse show (outside arena); 10 a.m. poultry show; 11 a.m. rooster crowing contest; 1 p.m. harness racing; 5 p.m. horse show (inside arena); 7 p.m. Larry Berrio (Canadian country artist)

• Aug. 11, Hometown Day (free grandstand) and Senior Citizens Day ($2 admission age 62 and over), admission $6 gate, prices for kids reduced on midway until 5 p.m., free gate admission for disabled with counselors or guardians, children under 42 inches tall free all week at the grandstand; 8 a.m. pony & horse show (infield arena); 10 a.m. poultry show; 11 a.m. rooster crowing contest and cattle in place (Holstein and beef); 1 p.m. 4H goat show (inside arena) and NY Sire Stakes harness racing; 2 p.m. 4h goat costume classes and pack goat obstacle course (inside arena); 4:30 p.m. Miss Franklin County Fair Pageant; 5 p.m. western horse show (inside arena); 7p.m. - Hometown Day parade (grandstand) 7:30 p.m. YMCA "Franklin County has Talent" finals (grandstand)
