POTSDAM -- Clarkson University plans to continue to offer both in-person and virtual summer camps and enrichment experiences to youth this summer.

Many K-12 youth look forward to participating in Clarkson's sport and academic camps and other special enrichment programs each summer, said a press release from the college.

The University is taking proactive steps to ensure full access to these pre-college experiences while ensuring the health and safety of all participants, the press release said.

Based on guidance from the Department of Health today, Empire State Development has not specifically addressed children’s camps in their essential business determinations, and permit application materials are being provided to ensure operators have the necessary materials to apply for a permit.

Camp offerings are subject to change and to local, state and federal directives that may be in effect during their implementation.

All Clarkson summer sports camps are currently scheduled to run in-person on the Clarkson University Potsdam campus with registration planned to be limited to only local North Country community youth.

Select camps for high school students will accept broader regional enrollment.

The college plans to work closely with its health partners and staff professionals to make appropriate adjustments to activities.

Registration is currently open, and payment will be collected two weeks before the first day of each camp -- full refunds will be offered if these camps are cancelled due to local, state, or federal directives.

For more information on sports camps, email athleticcamps@clarkson.edu.

All of Clarkson academic camps and enrichment programs that attract a national audience will be offered as virtual experiences for summer 2020 at a reduced participation cost. These camps include, for example, Horizons and Young Scholars.

The University is still considering in-person options for local youth to participate in these camps.

In addition to offering a new virtual experience, for the first time, Clarkson’s highly acclaimed Horizons Camp that builds excitement in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics, will be open to all gender identities.
