Canton church theater presents 'Virgil Wins the Lottery'

CANTON – The Canton United Methodist Church, 41 Court St., will present a comedy dinner theater production of “Virgil Wins the Lottery” on Oct. 19, 20 and 21.

“Virgil,” written by Eddie McPherson and produced by special arrangement with Heuer Publishing LLC of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, tells the story of Virgil Sludge, his potential bride Margaret Cooper and the dysfunctional Sludge family.

Cast members include Jane Brown, Nathan Lyndaker, Cole Madore, Maysa, Salma and Amal Moumen, Elias Nelson, Charles Romano, Jason Shirtz, Jennifer and Willow Terrell, Show times are Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20 with dinner at 5 p.m, and Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. The Sunday show will be followed by a dessert buffet.

The dinner is a choice of either homemade veggie or meat lasagna, rolls, salad, drinks, and “make your own ice cream sundaes” with brownies.

Tickets are $15 per adult, and $6 for children younger than 12.

The Sunday Dessert Theatre is $6 per adult, and $3 per child under the age of 12.

Tickets are available by calling Carol Johnson at 315-379-9709 or through the church office from Oct. 9 through Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Rev. Michael Terrell, pastor of the Canton UMC and director of the show says the proceeds from the show support our many missions of the church.

“We have many wonderful ministries within the church both locally and around the world, and the funds will help us keep our commitment to those life-changing ministries,” Terrell said.
