Texas company hiring as they close Peebles stores in O'burg, Gouverneur and reopen under new name

The Peebles stores in Ogdensburg, Gouverneur and Malone are being rebranded as Gordmans stores and will be holding job fairs Jan. 7.

Gordmans is an “off-price retailer,” according to Stage Stores Inc., based in Houston, Tex., the parent company for both Peebles and Gordmans.

The local stores are the Ogdensburg Gordmans, 701 Canton St. in the Seaway Shopping Center, the Gouverneur Gordmans, 471 East Main St., and the Malone Gordmans, 228 West Main St., Suite 14 in Malone Plaza.

The apparel and home décor retailer is now hiring.

Stage Stores, Inc. describes itself as “a leading retailer of trend-right, name-brand values for apparel, accessories, cosmetics, footwear and home goods.”

The stores will open Feb. 18.

Interested candidates may first apply online at gordmans.com/careers and then visit a job fair from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the stores. Walk-ins are welcome.

“Gordmans offers a variety of positions in an energetic and engaging work environment,” according to the announcement from Stage. Positions, which vary from store to store, include store manager, assistant store manager, sales associate, stockroom associate, among others.

Full-time Gordmans associates are offered benefits, including health insurance (medical, prescription drug, dental and vision); a 401(k) savings plan; paid vacation and holidays; and a 20% associate discount on merchandise, according to their announcement. Gordmans offers flexible full-time and part-time schedules.
