Potsdam Chamber to have two part-time positions instead of executive director job

NORTH COUNTRY THIS WEEK

POTSDAM — The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce will no longer have an executive director. Instead, the organization will have two part-time positions that will essentially fulfill the same duties.

“We are not hiring the executive director position, but instead filling it with two separate positions,” according to Brittany Ashley of the chamber.

Ashley took the reins as interim director in mid-February when Maggie McKenna, who was the executive director, took a job with the SLC Arts Council.

The two positions within the chamber will be marketing/membership coordinator and an events/operations coordinator. Each position will require approximately 20 hours per week.

“We made this change because it will better utilize the two staff members in the office,” Ashley said. “I will be the events/operations coordinator. Essentially, we will have two part-time positions in the office with their own focus points, but will come together when needed to complete the tasks at hand.”

McKenna took over for John Morrison, who held the position for about three months. He had taken over the role from long-time executive director Marylee Ballou. Ballou stepped down in early 2018 to pursue other opportunities.

The chamber is accepting resumes for the marketing/membership coordinator position. The ad can be viewed at https://northcountrynow.com/classifieds/employment. Letters of interest, resumes and three references can be emailed to director@PotsdamChamber.com.
